I do try to enrich my soil with my own compost and learned from an old wise gardener how to make my own liquid compost. Now this same gardener told me that if I select a product from the store that has the numbers on the side ex:10 10 10 -JUST AN EXAMPLE-that the middle number should be the highest for good flowering. Ex: 10-20-10 Feedback please. I also do try to enrich my soil, water according to that plants needs, consider sun needed, and use mulch. Can use wood chips from chipping trees in brush in your property for mulch? (or will attract termites?)?

We used the chips around our flowers and around our home. The chips do attract ants. The chips can be placed in a pile to rot for a year or so and they make excellent compost. I used an ant spray when I found the ants in the wood chips around our flowers. I also found that the wood chips somehow reproduce and I get things growing in the chips that I did not anticipate.

I was away from home for a couple of weeks, and when I came home today I walked into a very smelly, damp feeling apartment. I've only lived here since March, but since the weather has warmed up I did notice it was very cool and damp all the time - I was kind of relieved with the cool air, didn't need to buy an air conditioner, but the dampness concerned me a bit. Anyway, after cleaning almost everything in my apartment, it still smelled very strongly, kind of like sewage but more just like something rotten. I looked around and came across a big patch of green mold in my bedroom, just above the baseboards, and it looked like it was growing down under the carpet and smelled awful. I also noticed that it was right below one of my windows, and I do remember one day about a month ago that I was out and left the window open and there was a big downpour - but when I came home there didn't seem to be that much wetness, I cleaned up most of it anyway, I don't know if that's what it is. I've had plumbing problems in this place already as well so I'm wondering if the pipes could be leaking under the floor making the carpet damp. I'm staying at my boyfriends now and took my pets with me, but I'm feeling really off, like nauseous and really tired with a headache. I'm going to contact my landlord tomorrow, but should I be concerned about how I feel right now or will it subside? Thanks

Moisturizing shampoos and conditioner are known to leave build up on the scalp and cause dandruff and even dryer skin in some cases. The best thing to do is keep trying out different shampoos until you find the right one for your hair type and skin. Every shampoo will have different results for different people. Shampoos with fragrance in them irritate my scalp and no matter what the brand is or what they claim to help if it has fragrance in it (which 99% of brands do) It makes my scalp dry, itchy and flaky. I use Dove or Aveno in my hair and once or twice a month I use a clarifying shampoo that helps remove build up from products. You can make a clarifying rinse by adding a few teaspoons of vinegar in some luke warm water using that on your scalp followed by a cold water rinse.

I bought a house and want to do some landscaping in the front. I discovered that the previous owner had white stones (the small,decorative, white kind) covering the whole bed but he had covered them with landscaping paper and then added dirt and mulch. All the soil has these white rocks mixed in with the dirt. It would be crazy to try to remove them all. Do you think i can just dig a whole deep enough and plant things beyond the stone layer and does this make them less likely to survive. I have a mushy, wet mulch question from my new beautiful lawn?

I used TAGRO and mixed it with my nice Puyallup Valley soil. The lawn is absolutely beautiful! The problem is that it is growing almost faster then I can keep up with mowing. The problem I have is that if I don't mow it then it gets too long too quick and then it is harder to mow. The real problem is when I mow the grass does not go up into the bag but turns to green lawn mush and sucks up into the underside of the mower! I make a couple two or three passes and have to take it to the side, raise the front and spray the really wet, really mushy mulch out from under the lawn mower.... I try to wait for dry lawn and it has had three day no rain or watering times, but it still just mushes up into the mower? Is it that it is new lawn? Do I need a new blade? I have a decent mower that runs well with the exception that it starts bogging down with the wet mushy mulch that starts to impede the blade. Any ideas? Absolutely love the lawn and wouldn't trade the way I have to mow if that is what it takes, but if there is an answer? I sure would like to know? Thanks for any help or advice I could get. I'm not sure of the exact sciency bit but basically I think its when fungi/micro-organisms in the soil break down the wood chip, they use nitrogen for the process which they take from the soil. I don't think its really a problem if the wood chip is well rotted. As for acidity, that would depend upon the wood-chip used, I know a lot of conifers tend to produce acidic wood-chip.

Make sure there are no insects, spores, molds and etc in your leaf mulch. But lemon trees need potassium, and personally I'd use month-old, dry ground banana hulls sprinkled in a wee trench around the base of the plant, a few feet out. Notice which of the branches are reaching furthest out, and that's the limit of the circumference of the circle (ie don't dig into the roots). Put the fertilizer in, some good soil and water, and wait for sun.

Garnier is great! I use it often to detangle and make my hair more manageable. You use it in your hair when it is still wet, and style as desired. You don't want your hair to be soaking (dripping) wet otherwise a lot of the product will run out of your hair, but you also don't want it to be too dry because this will cause your hair to be sticky. When I was younger I used to have stick straight hair. As I'm getting older it's getting a lot more thick and the bottom layer is getting really wavy and it looks great when I actually don't do much to it. The top layer is just weird, the ends flip in and out and its defiantly not as wavy as the bottom. I'd like a shampoo and conditioner that I can use a certain routine with that helps bring out the waves/curls but also helps with layer blending and that doesn't make your hair frizzy. I also have a defuser if I need that for the routine. I don't want to spend a ton of money either. Thanks!

Why is my hair tangled everytime i wash my hair?

Whenever I wash my own hair it is tangled and whenever someone else does its not tangled. What am I doing wrong? I use pantene shampoo pro-v for the first two washes and then i use head and shoulders danduff shampoo (classic usually) for the third wash. Then i use pantene conditioner for my conditioner and i try to comb my hair out and it tangled and then when i get out of the shower and dry it off with a towel and its still tangled. Dog limping very bad, please help?

The garden outside my house has 7 larger plants in it. They are good plants but the garden it out of hand with weeds. Newbie at gardening-help!?

i have never planted anything until three weeks ago in little pots in my kitchen and those flowers are growing its very exciting to watch. now i feel ready to start planting some outside and doing some minor landscaping. i know sort of what i want-i like stones and flowers not a bunch of greenery and buses and monkey grass. but i dont know how to get there. my front yard is very small and the grass is terrible weedy and spotty. theres a sidewalk about twelve feet from the road to my house. i was thinking of planting perennials on each side of the sidewalk and around the mailbox and uprooting the monkey grass ad rotting wood logs on the side of my house. my mom says i need to get good soil and mulch. idk how much, what kind, where to put it etc. and i dont know how to get rid of the bad soil. i know its hard to help without pictures but i know nothing and anything at all would actually be helpful. i live in tennessee close to georgia if that helps where we get pretty hot summers, pretty cold winters, not much snow but lots of rain if that helps. i was thinking perennials because i wont have to keep planting every year. thanks in advance!

I'm looking for some hair products that smell really good. My shampoo and conditioner are kinda odorless and my perfume fades after some time. I want a product that nourishes my hair, but also adds a nice aroma but at a reasonable price. I know Moroccan Oil smells really good, but it is pretty expensive. Mulch will help some, you'll still be doing some weeding.. but not near as much. Newspaper makes a decent cheap weedblock.. but maybe that is what you mean that you are doing now.

scrape the top off, just deep enough to get roots. toss this around like tossing a salad to separate soil if you need it. digging down like you are saying is good, most won't take the time. if you put down the news paper, dig down a bit and put a THICK layer of mulch. depending how wide this is you may want to put the mulch very thick as much as 10". you can plant pots of poinsettia, easter lilly or what ever the season is. just dig a hole in the mulch to hide the pot. you will need to treat it like a potted plant and water by hand every day or two. water the pot not all around it.

IMO you train on leash all commands and then you train off leash in an enclosed area. So a yard that is fenced would be a perfect place to start doing the commands off leash. You don't wan a dog park as its far too much room. Start small till the dog is reliable.

Air Conditioner outside unit not working... Any advice?

My outside air conditioner unit is not working, TRANE XE1000. The breaker keeps tripping. When I reset the breaker and go to the outside unit, I can hear a slight hum. After doing some research online, I thought I would go ahead and change the capassitor and contactors, but it still doesn't work. The fan will spin freely by hand, so I don't think that's the issue. I purchased and installed a booster for the compressor, thinking maybe it was just getting old and having a hard time, but still nothing. I have a blinking green light inside on a circut panel. When I place my power tester on the contactor and capassitor with the power on, I get no reading of power even when the unit is on. Could this be a bad breaker? Any suggestions would be very helpful. No, do not get this confused. Before meiosis actually begins (during interphase of the S phase), you have duplication of chromosomes so that each chromosome contains two sister chromatids, but the number of total chromosomes is still the same, 2N. To get an idea of how many chromosomes you have, just count the centromeres (the center part of the chromosome). You will see that you still have 46 in a typical human cell (2 sets of 23 chromosomes = 2N). Before the cell actually duplicates, the chromosome is not the typical "X" shape that you see. The "X" shape of the chromosome only occurs after duplication. Know what I mean? Each half of the "X" is a sister chromatid. There are no sister chromatids before duplication. It's an abstract concept, but I hope this helps a little bit.

Betta fish is pale and unresponsive?

Brought him home about a month ago, first time with a Betta fish, or any fish for that matter. He was sick about 2 weeks ago because I was using tap water, I quickly went out and bought a water conditioner, but now he's having similar non-responsive symptoms; he is lying on the bottom of the tank, rarely being active and only going up for air, he is not eating, just spitting the pellets out, and this is what worries me most...he's very pale. He's usually a dark purple and light pink body but now hes almost orange and the purple is looking translucent. I did a water change today, and i'm going to fast him tomorrow and maybe the next day to make sure it's not constipation or swim bladder. (he's not swimming sideways yet..) I don't have a heater because our house is quite warm, but i've been doing water cycling today (taking out 2 cups of the water and replacing it with new hot conditioned water to raise the temperature a bit) The warm water seemed to help his activity but it does not explain the paleness and the lack of eating.. Bird mites. Hope you haven't exposed any household birds to them or visited friends with birds after handling that baby. Cover the cage with a white cloth at night and throw it in the washer first thing in the morning. The mites will go to the cloth at night.The cage must be kept very clean . you don't want chemicals with a baby bird. Mites are blood suckers and can get your baby very ill. The mites aren't interested in people but you may be able to feel them crawl on you. Very tiny tickle.

3 months ago or so, my dad put new mulch in our backyard. Since then, we've been noticing ticks on our two dogs. I recently made the mistake of hiring a friend to paint my house, I have a small ranch and when he came to my house he said ya $15an hour and that I would buy the paint because I get a military discount on it, I must mention he is not a professional painter, we are both professional full time firefighters who work opposite days so we do run into each other in the mornings. I knew he was doing odd jobs on the side so i figured he might want to make some extra cash on the side. When he came to my house for an estimate i had told him i don't need it to look like an art museum because in a year or two I will be adding a second floor on. I figured a day to prep the house as far as caulking and some little scraping in some stops that had to me done and 4 days 1 day for each side of the house and maybe a day or two more at most so I was looking to pay him $600 cash for 40hrs and then pay him if he went over that. The first day he showed up at 10-1030am with another guy who was 65-70 years old, they caulked the house and started painting, when I got home from running an errand he had mentioned it would be a good idea to put some crushed stone down at the base of the foundation to stop the moisture from coming up from the mulch to the shingles. I had told him it was a good idea but I can do that later on myself. Day two they show up again 10-1030 paint for a little bit then take lunch, I had called him while i was at the firehouse to see the progress and he said there is a lot of prep work that had to be done but they were on there way home from home depot because they ran out of paint, I was pissed off the bat because if there was so much prep work to be done why wouldn't you continue to prep until I can get the paint in the morning so I can get the discount. My father in-law was home watching my daughter so I had asked him to take a picture and send it to me over the phone, when i got the picture I noticed something at the base of the foundation, zoomed in on the picture and it was crushed stone that he had put down, I called and said "who told you to put the crushed stone down?" and he said no one i just wanted to give you a visual. I told him i am paying you hourly to paint the house not do landscape work, just paint the house. I couldnt believe how little they got done in 2 days, but I guess when you work from 1030 to 330 4 and and take lunch your not gona get much done. I was getting concerned about how much this was going to cost so I had asked him to speed it up a bit and that my wife and I would like a flat rate instead of paying by the hour, so he went home and sent me an invoice which had a fuel charge on it sales tax, and labor for the other guy he had with him and fuel charge (he lives in the state next to ours) which none of these things were agreed to in the beginning also on the bottom of the invoice was a note that said because I was not willing to pay hourly that the $15an hour was void. He sent me email after email stating that he will not accept phone calls from me and that all conversations will be done over email. I got so sick of the emails and 6 invoices that I had told him that I am leaving an envelope in your locker with cash in it for the hours "you" worked which we agreed upon end of story. When I returned to the firehouse for my shift he had left an envelope in my locker with a note attached to it that states "obviously you need this more than I do" and the cash was in there that i had given him. He states that he refuses to put his professional stamp on a house that's just "slap the paint on there" but he has no company name isn't licensed and i was invoice 101 and if you don't know invoices start at 100. If I wanted to pay big money to paint my house I would have hired real painters and they would've been done in 2 days. I just want to know if I was wrong in anyway in how i paid him, I really believe I did the right thing.

Fescue grass is driving me crazy, wont bag, wont mulch?

I finally dug up the pathetic looking bermuda sod that my home builder installed when I bought my house a few years back and replaced it with fescue. The fescue came in lush and healthy just like I hoped but its a nightmare to mow. Its much thicker than the bermuda and it gums up my mower almost instantly. Im finding the blades don't ever dry out and they just clump together when cut. They don't fully discharge into the bag and eventually clog the bag opening solid. The mower stalls and cursing ensues. Ive tried using the mulching insert and bagging seems to be the lesser of two evils. Ive resorted to cutting at the heat of the day once a week to cut what I hope to be short dry grass and give myself the best chance to keep the mower from stalling, and FAIL. The mower usually stalls by the time the bag gets half full and there's usually a big pile of clippings left where the mower stalls. Ive messed with the deck heights- going over it twice starting with lifting the deck all the way up then dropping it back to the mid height setting. Doesnt help. I use new gas with Sta-Bil, change the oil every year, and check/replace filters. I kept the bermuda in the front yard and it cuts just fine like it always has. Does anyone have a tip or a trick that makes cutting fescue easier or will I eventually have the bite the bullet and get a big 'ol riding mower that can power through it?

I am just looking for a little support and hope in this trying time!?

Ok sorry this will probably be long, but here it goes! I have been TTC for 2 yrs with my husband, after 6 months of nothing, I went 80 days without a period and went to see my OBGYN. He put me on Clomid to make me ovulate and low and behold we got pregnant after the first month (1yr after starting to TTC) I then miscarried at 6 weeks and 3 days, my OBGYN told me this could be normal and to just keep trying. We got pregnant again 2 months later and miscarried at 6 weeks to the day. My OBGYN then told me when I get preg agian that I was going to be using progesterone suppositories to boost my hormone levels up in an effort to keep the baby. We got preg for the 3rd time and lost again at 6 weeks 4 days! My doctor now gave me 11 different deficiency blood test and my husband and I had to go through chromosome testing. but the problem I am having is that the chromosome testing takes about 5 months to come back and it has only been a month and i am already going crazy and don't know if I can last until October to find out if we can even ever have children as a couple! I guess I am just looking for some positive feedback in regards to people whom may have gone through this and eventually had the blessing of a child. All my life I knew all I really wanted was children and now that I am married, financially stable and have a great home and life, it seems like it will never happen! I can't remember what my OBGYN told me the percentage was of couples whom can never have children due to mismatched chromosomes, and I am praying with everything that I am, that this will not be the case.
