Do plasmids occur naturally in cells....?

Yes, they do occur naturally in many prokaryotes, and as for the shape, they are naturally circularized as well. When we want to clone a specific gene, we have to add enzymes to cleave open the circularized plasmid before inserting the gene to be cloned, so, it would follow that the plasmids must naturally already be circularized.
