Sex Linked Genetics: Chromosomes?

Females have the genotype XX, and males have the genotype XY. Hence, during fertilization, females can only donate an X chromosome, and males can contribute either an X or a Y chromosome. Basically, the sex of the offspring is determined by the male. If the male donates an X chromosome, then the offspring will be female. If the male donates a Y chromosome, then the offspring will be male. I hope this helps.
